Scattered blocks ...
I find a camera can serve dual purposes ...
... in addition to recording and sharing ... it can also seem to capture what the naked eye can't ... like the two colors that are touching over on the top left. I started this quilt in my mind about a month ago and sketched it out last week. I actually liked my sketch so much, that I am now in the midst of making two of these ... this one in all solids and a second one in some solids and prints left over from Juliet's quilt.
My eye really like the randomness of it ... though I often find myself amazed at how much work it can take to actually make something look random.
Oh ... and you've probably noticed the blog. I thought I might try some of the new features ... I'm not sure.
Please let me know your thoughts ... on either the quilt or the blog ... won't be offended by dislike of either ;-).
Hope you're week has started off well ...
All the best
Lisa
Love the quilt! I often take pictures of my WIP to help me spot problem areas.
ReplyDeleteNot sure about some of these new blog layouts. Some of them have a lot of visual "clutter" but I can see how they can help showcase older blog posts better than the regular layout.
Love this quilt! And I agree, you can certainly see things better once you photograph them and look at them on the computer - I don't know why, but it works! Someone once told me to take a door peephole (you can get them at Home Depot or Lowes) to look at your quilt on the design wall or floor to achieve the same effect. Haven't tried it yet, but it seems like it would work!
ReplyDeleteAnd I have to say, while it's a little distracting to have to learn something new, it is really easy to find a specific post about a quilt with the Snapshot feature! it kind of reminds me of how stuff looks on my hubby's iPad.... So I'd have to say I think I like it!
ReplyDeleteI love the quilt and often use pics as a design tool, letting me know when I need to change things around. Would definitely like to try the peephole method Sarah mentions.
ReplyDeleteI like the new layout. The only thing I might suggest is an easier way to find your older posts, like the "older/newer" links I've seen on the bottom of posts on other blogs.
ok, I'll try this again for the 3rd time. If you get a whole bunch of comments with me saying I don't like the new layout, I apologize!! I think I'm exiting before all the final steps of posting a comment is done, therefore nothing is posting!
ReplyDeleteFirst off...I love the quilt! It's going to be so cool when it's done!
About the new layout. This is just my opinion....
I don't care for it. It's too hard to navigate around. I use a netbook, so I have a small screen. scrolling is hard for me b/c there is a little button at the bottom that says "send feedback" right where my scroll down is. I don't get to see your whole blog, just this window comes up with this post. I go to my blogger dashboard and see what is new postings by bloggers I follow. When I click on this post, just a window comes up. I then have to close this window to view the rest of your blog and all I see are pictures. it's almost like flickr. But then when I do click a picture, the blog post comes up...which is fine, but it's another window. It's not all just right there for me to scroll though. So I find the ease of use on this new layout very difficult. But then again, this is coming from someone who hates when facebook does all there little tweeks and changes. I like simple and though, overall this "may" be simpler, for me it's having to jump through lots of hoops to read a post vs. just scrolling through the blog as a whole, which is what I prefer. Again, this is just my opinion and I'll learn to adapt b/c I like your blog, so I'll read it anyway you have it!
Love the quilt, wish I had something in my head like that. I'll have to start using a photo to view my quilts before I sew together.
ReplyDeleteAwesome quilt....would you be willing to provide a tutorial/pattern pretty please! i would definitely love to make this quilt. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThe quilt is wonderful...not so sure about the blog changes, they were a bit confusing.
ReplyDeleteNow I can see how you created this. It is really a nice quilt. It is so interesting that I could see first your finished quilt photo on the flicker group Fresh Modern Quilts, then follow over here to your blog and see more process photos. Thanks for sharing.
