Wedding quilt ...

First … my thanks to all of you who commented on the challenge with my niece's quilt … I love this quilting community … your heart and generosity is abundant in so many ways!  I was away at a wedding and didn't get a chance to say thanks to everyone personally … but I truly appreciate your thoughts … I have connected with her dad, and he is helping sort it all out.

And now … this week's wedding quilt ...

My husband picked this quilt out from my Pinterest page as the one that he thought would be best as a wedding present … and lo and behold, there was a great tutorial attached to it!  The inspiration quilt was made with 6 fabrics, I added 2 to make it 8 for mine, as I wanted a slightly larger quilt.

Like us, the happy couple own a home in Seattle and a cabin out on Hood Canal.  My color choices wrapped around what they experience outdoors … the sun, the trees and the sea (you can see all these colors in the photo of the wedding setting below).  I used strictly Kona solids for this … on the front they included:  Maize, Celery, Olive, Peridot, Spring, Seafoam, Sage, & Teal Blue.  Wish I could tell you what color I have used on the back … but it's not on my color chart and I cannot remember.

I tried a new quilting technique that I hadn't used before.  I loved the squares on this quilt by Katie at Sew Katie Did.  It came out pretty good considering that it was all done free-motion.

The wedding was this weekend up in Port Townsend, WA.  We had the opportunity to watch two very special friends take their vows in what has to be one of the most idyllic settings I have ever seen for a wedding.

We had a chance to be appreciative this weekend … appreciative that I live in one of an increasing number of states that are allowing all of it's residents to marry someone that they love and want to spend the rest of their lives with.  Love is love đź’• and equality matters and I could not think of a better quilt to gift to our amazing friends Dennis and Wil as they continue their journey together.

Hope you guys had amazing weekends as well!

All the best
Lisa

  3. Gorgeous quilt, absolutely love the colours. I've literally just been thinking that I must stop using white as my background when I make quilts, and try other, warmer colours. You've been my inspiration!!
