No more pictures for awhile ...

Today while I was at work, and my husband out walking the dogs, someone climbed through a 9" x 12" open window and stole a laptop, a MacBook Pro, 2 cameras and about $40 in loose change off of our kitchen counter ...

In the end, it was a good wake up call ... albeit an expensive one.

So ... my public service announcement ... tips from the nice police officer that took the report:

  • 80% of ALL home break-ins happen during the day, through an unlocked door or window,
  • Get the loudest alarm you can with both an indoor and outdoor siren, pass on the monitoring,
  • Don't leave your goodies on the counter top where the thief expects to find them ... putting them in a drawer or closet will decrease the likelihood of theft by over 90%.
The MacBook was replaced tonight ... the rest will have to wait ... which means no photos of quilts for a bit ... guess I can't give anymore away for a while ;-).

Anyway ... stay safe and I will look forward to watching YOUR quilts for a little while!

All the best,
Lisa

  1. Scarey! Thankfully not a time you where home or asleep - although with dogs I think they would pass. Hope your items/suspect are found.

  3. That's awful. Having been broken into ourselves, I know how that feels - a complete violation of your personal space. You also wonder if you have been targeted/watched. Not a nice feeling.

  6. That is just awful! I certainly wouldn't have thought anyone could fit thru a 9 x 12 window.

Glad they only took stuff and you, hubby and doggie are fine.

  8. Oh Lisa, I'm so sorry! We had a similar incident a little over a year ago. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but that doesn't make it any less of a hassle to deal with all the fallout paperwork and hassle of replacing the stolen items. I'll be sending good thoughts your way...

  9. Been there. I'm so sorry it happened to you. It is such a violation to know someone came into your home & took your things.
Mean people suck -- thieves, I mean you!

  12. Oh that is terrible, I am so angry at all the burglaries that go on these day. People don't have any respect for others or their possessions. A friend of mine left her purse behind in a cafe last week, and it was handed in to the information desk. But when my friend went to claim it, the girl at the counter said somebody else had 'claimed' it...stolen would be a more appropriate word for that.
We just spend $700 on deadlocks on all our doors and windows, after our insurance company said our premiums would be much higher if we didn't do it.
